*Sigh*

I'm excited. Really excited. It's been a while since I have been this excited about getting married. Over the last few weeks there has just been so much going on that the wedding and my future marriage was pushed to the very back of my head. There have been lots of meetings, some more travelling and then just over a week ago I was informed that my wonderful flatmate Mareike is to move to Karlsruhe in a month and that I will be taking over the responsibilities for Bremen Corps on top of my other work as of the 10th of March. None of that, however, can silence my excitement for long.

I am excited about putting on my dress, walking down the aisle with my dad, saying 'I do', hearing 'I do' and partying the night away with our friends and family. But more than all that, I am just filled with awe and excitement about the fact that I get to marry who I am going to marry. Seriously, I wish I could make you understand how spectacular my particular Honsberg is (they are all lovely, but mine is just... well you understand, right?), and if I weren't afraid you would get sick and have to leave this blog and never return I would go on and on about what I love about him and how rosy my future looks because he is in it. Please stay! I promise I will keep it together. I will tell you this, though:

I am so eternally grateful to God that he has blessed me with a man that is all I wanted and more. And so all the decorations, my beautiful dress, the music, the food, the flowers - all of these things fade into insignificance when I think that I get to promise before God to love, honour, serve and be faithful to the man who isn't perfect, but is certainly perfect for me.

I have been really busy traveling the last few weeks, so thinking about the wedding has kind of landed on the back burner. I am back home now for a week and really need to remind myself that I am getting married, that that is really wonderful and get back that giddy, happy feeling that every bride-in-planning should have.

Wer kennt nicht diesen Moment:

Und meistens kommt man zu dem Ergebniss: "Ich habe einfach nichts zum anziehen."

Mareike and I saw this video of this couple's first dance. We sighed and 'awed' our way through it and (possibly due to hormones and disgusting amounts of chocolate) got a little bit teary at how in love they looked and how crazy cute they are. They both have such a charming, awkward grace that make them endearing and I love their choice of song. Ok, ok, I just love them!

Patrick and I know (sort of) what our first dance song is going to be but I have very few expectations on our dance itself except that it will be sweet and wonderful for us both. It may be something completely different for our guests, though. Poor guys.

I will just be happy if it doesn't end like this:

Mir schon: Filme

Ja genau Hochzeitsfilme. Nein natürlich nicht die Privatvideos anderer Menschen, sondern die klassischen Filme aus Hollywood.
Ich denke den ersten den ich zu diesem Thema gesehen habe war "Vier Hochzeiten und ein Todesfall."

Welche Filme fallen Euch ein und vor allem welche könnt ihr uns empfehlen anzuschauen?!

When I first got engaged and started planning the wedding, my mom gave me a really great idea that I haven't really had the space to do what she suggested. But now I do! Blogs are great things, eh?
So. To all you ladies who have been brides - what did you love most about your wedding? What would you do differently now? What would you definately tell any bride never to do? I would love to read your comments and learn from your wisdom!

Musik

Der französische Schriftsteller Victor Hugo hat mal gesagt:
"Die Musik drückt das aus, 
was nicht gesagt werden kann 
und worüber zu schweigen unmöglich ist."

Es erstaunt mich immer wieder wie viel es bei einer Hochzeit zu bedenken gibt.
Und Musik ist ein, wie ich finde wichtiges Thema.

Es fängt bei der Kirche an:
Möchte man einen Chor, einen Solisten oder etwa doch eine Heilsarmeemusikkapelle haben?
Oder sollen die Musikstücke auf einem Klavier oder Orgel begleitet werden?

Es gibt aber auch besondere Programmpunkte bei einer Hochzeit für die man Lieder oder Musikstücke aussuchen sollte


1. Eintreffen der Gäste in die Kirche
2. Einzug der Braut
3. Auszug des Brautpaares
4. Den Eröffnungstanz des Brautpaares
5. Den Vater Tochter Tanz
6. Die Hochzeitstorte angeschnitten wird
7. Hintergrundmusik während des Essens 


Diese Liste lässt sich natürlich noch um einige erweitern.
Ein guter Tipp kommt noch aus Sarah`s Weddingplaner, gerade für diejenigen die eine Band oder DJ engagiert haben:
Eine " Bitte nicht spielen" - Liste erstellen. Darauf kommen Lieder und Interpreten die auf keinen Fall gespielt werden sollen. Somit verhindert man das man mit solchen Liedern wie z.B. Ein Stern von DJ Ötzi überrascht wird.
